Since 1987 October has been National Pizza Month in the US, those of you curious why they have a pizza month rather than a pizza day probably aren't aware that the Americans consume 100 acres of pizza each day, this equates to 350 slices per second!!

Over 5 billion pizzas our sold worldwide every year.

Lorenzo Amato and Louis Piancone built the US's largest ever pizza on October 11th 1987. It measured over 10,000 square feet, weighing in at 44,457 pounds. It comprised 9,357 pounds of cheese and 2,387 pounds of pepperoni.

It was cut into 94,248 slices and eaten by more than 30,000 spectators in Havana, Florida.

The world's largest pizza was made at Norwood Hypermarket in South Africa on December 8th 1990. It measured 122 ft. 8 in. in diameter.
